Part 3: A Guide To Balance Your Body and Brain's Metabolic Health
Most humans today have no idea why they walk such a tight rope between various addictions (or bad habits) and depression, anxiety and recklessness, fatigue and burnout. Why is it such a challenge for humans to give up bad habits? Why are we so prone to self-delusion and self-deception, i.e., fooling ourselves? Are animals also prone to addiction and self-delusion?
Imbalance and fatigue are two sides of the same coin and so prevalent in human lives that we have become blind to them. Today, humans suffer mostly from abuse not by others but by their own brain. The world’s largest battles are fought inside human minds. We are the only species metamorphosed to have the brain in the driver seat of our body-mind axis. Yet most of us know more about our phones, apps, games, pets, homes, cars and jobs than about our own brain and body, and how they work, or get burned out, together.
As a polymath (materials scientist, farmer, chemical engineer, former NASA grantee) and an educator with years of interdisciplinary research and teaching experience, I specialized in balancing industrial product formulas but once I realized my own body and mind were imbalanced, I walked away from a lucrative corporate career to learn more about the feedback loops connecting our brains to our body, habits, behaviors and diseases. I share my findings in my book because they are not taught in schools. I use simple language to explain scientific first principles that govern our body and brain, and the neurochemical soups that make our brains prone to metabolic imbalance, self-delusion, addictions and bad habits. In what follows, I share the next part of my book (Masks, Crutches and Daggers: The Science of our Self-Delusional, Addictive Homo economicus Brain) with my supporters (parts 1 and 2 were shared previously).
Science today is mostly a profitable and sponsored business. Be wise. Don’t sell your attention to “attention merchants.” Get your information by supporting “independent” (non-corporate) scientists (like me) who share uncensored, unsponsored science and useful, simplified insight. I am guided just by my God-given conscience, not by mobs, politics, profits or corporations.
